Old Gold. Pawn It Aleady!

My girlfriend still wears this gold necklace and locket she got from her ex-husband for an anniversary. Whatever. It's worth something and gold is gold. I have no problem with the necklace itself. I do have a problem when I bought her a replacement for Christmas and she instead still wears the old necklace.

Mine costs more, looks better - it's white gold - and it goes with her things better. The 2 times she did put it on she wore the old one with it which just looked stupid.

I ask why she wasn't switching. She said it wasn't sentimental. It was she liked the old one better. So why didn't she exchange it for something she liked? I think it's an excuse to keep on wearing the old one. In any case, I don't understand why I should be wasting my money on buying her things she won't wear.
