To do the dishes, or not to do the dishes?

I have been living with my boyfriend and good friend for the past 6 months and it always seems like I am the one who has to clean up after their messes and do the dishes. Sometimes I don't mind because I know I probably use the most dishes since I am the only one who cooks, the other 2 just buy take-aways or have microwave meals.. Still doesn't excuse the rubbish lying around though..

However I had surgery on my knee last week and need to be on crutches for 2 weeks. I can't walk much or stand up properly and I can't carry anything when I am on the crutches. I have been home for 5 days now and suprisingly came home to a tidy lounge and clean kitchen but the dishes have piled up again and neither of them have done anything about it. I am extremely annoyed as it seems they are expecting me to do them. I clean them when they have exams or assignments or are too busy at work yet they won't even do them now! I've also had to do them before when I was sick because they won't.

I have tried leaving the dirty dishes there before but they just pile up until we have no clean dishes left and I give in. Also tried a roster which never works. My boyfriend just makes excuses and gets angry at me if I tell him to do the dishes and my friend locks herself up in her room most of the time so I can never tell her. I've written notes on the fridge about it and she just gets pissed off and ignores them. What can I do?
