am I being unrealisti?

So his friend calls him and tells him that he is moving on Jan. 1st, and he needs his help. My Husband says ok. When he gets off the phone I tell him that he cant help out that day, its family time and I think that he should be with us. He says that his friend is going to give him money. I say that family time is more important. I am really upset and feel like we (the kids and I) dont matter to him somtes. Im I being overly sensitive?
