My roommate is stealing from me. How do I get proof enough to blackmail her into leaving on her own?

I know she's been stealing money from me for a while. Couple bucks here and ther. before she used to ask if she could borrow it but she would never pay it back. Now, she is just taking it without asking. Not much but $20 a week sometimes can add up on a fixed budget.

Do I even have to get proof or can I just kick her out? She isn't on the lease. It's in my name. Any good way to catch her? She was a good friend too.
