Do I take his threats serious or continue to blow him off?

I'm sure some of you have seen my last few posts. My boyfriend and I had been dating on and off for over a year now and both have us confessed we weren't faithful to each other. He wanted us to forgive each other and try to work through this; however, my thoughts are if either of us cared in the first place this wouldn't have happened. So we called it over and trying to move on. He freaked out, first it was so many mean things I can't even put them in here and next it was I love you we need to be together, we need to meet up and talk about this. I understand people go through the, I love you and hate you faze but this was to the extreme! Now he is telling me his going to hurt himself if I don't talk to him or meet with him. I really don't think he would do anything to hurt me, but at the same time he was way over the top. Do I call him and go through the screaming and yelling or do I continue to not talk to him and hope he doesn't do something to himself?
