am i overreacting or being ungrateful?

fiancee and father of our son gets his mother a mothers day gift that far exceeds mine - the mother of his son. He takes me with him to pick out a gift, he chooses the less expensive gift for me after we had already chose a gift for his mother that was more than 4x's the amount. I wanted and stated what I wanted - he just chose the one he wanted for me - why take me with him then? Feel like I come in 2nd place.
