Should I toss the flowers or keep them until my girlfriend approves they are ready to be tossed?

My girlfriend has given me fresh cut flowers in vase ( to keep at my place) and has asked me to keep them in the vase until she approves that they are dead and ready to be tossed out.

She is still extremely upset when after a week she visited my place and noticed that I had tossed the dead flowers in the arrangement (even though I kept the live flowers & placed them in new vases). She believes that some of the flowers could not have died that quickly.

Am I being insensitive by throwing the dead flowers out before she approves?
