Am I right to leave?

I have a long history with someone I love and am with, but he's recently out of a relationship and, understandably, can't commit. I feel like he's using me for sex and to help distract him from his ex. I don't know if I should stay, hoping I'll turn out to be more than a rebound, or leave and hope he comes back into my life later, or just leave. Help?
