Should my boyfriend get mad at me for hugging two of my male friends?

I was dropping my sister off at the high school when I saw two of my guy friends getting into their car. I stopped and said hi because I have not seen them since I left for college in August. They both gave me a hug and we talked for about 5 minutes. When I told my boyfriend about this encounter, he became very angry. This unfortunately happens a lot in our relationship. He often becomes angry when I interact with guys. Am I wrong to still have male friends?
