Birth Control: Pros and Cons??

Im considering going on birth control pills but am extremely hesitant to putting chemicals and hormones into my body. I dont want to mess with my system but condoms dont always work. I know a few people who are on them or have been and nothing lasting has happened to them except a few body changes like breast size...Im not asking you whether I should go on them or not, but id like to get some first hand information from people who are or have been on them.
