Just wanting your honest opinion about ex's...

Is it wrong to stay friends with an ex? I think if your ex did you wrong..you should stay away from them completely. I can understand maybe if you had been friends for a long time..but when someone says they still love their ex and care about them but only as a friend..is that possible? Thanks for your thoughts people!!
