Should i financially support my Girlfriend?? is it expected?

i am in my late 30's and have been dating a mid 20's girl for around 12 months - she is an out of work artist and Lives in London, I want to help her get on her feet but I'm afraid she'll never ''get on her feet''. She has no one else to support her - but i feel like i need to draw the line at some point - how should i approach this?? We have broken up a few times and the finance issue is really clouding our relationship - I don't know whether she wants to be with me, or just NEEDS to be with me, if you know what I mean?
