Should I continue to try and make contact with my bestfriend after they stopped communicating with me?

My bestfriend divorced, and starting dating again. But during that time he stopped communicating with me. I was the one that continued to communicate. I also sent him a facebook invitation recently, and he won't make a connection, but I did accept the ex spouses.

Each time I would contact my friend I would get voice mail, and then they would call back with an excuse saying they didn't hear the phone.
