How should we invest in our children's time and education

My wife and I have four children. The have been in private school ($5K/year) for the past 6 years. They are involved in similar activities and attend them relatively at the same time. They are bright and relatively independent and confident. My wife and I believe they should be raised in a Christian environment to establish a solid foundation for their adult life. The kids are close and interactive in play with each other and have other friends as well. However, I am mostly working 5 days a week and she works on occasion so that she can be available for the kids after school. She has the capability of earning $150 K/annual while I have a current career cap in the $70K/annual. Our home has a 30 year loan which about 25% is paid. We pay our loan and credit card every month but no savings. It is very, very difficult to get a continued commitment to work toward our future savings for retirement and children's education. My wife, while concerned, believes all will be taken care of and we will adapt to what ever situation will occur. I am very concerned and do not know how to implement a plan for our future without her commitment and participation. I believe her income is needed to secure our financial/health/time in the future and continue with meeting her strong desire for education and family support.
