How do I leave when I have no job, a 3 year old and the economy is sooo bad that a job is impossable?

I have many reasons to leave my husband, and I am emotionaly ready to take that step. Yet I am a stay at home mother and I have been applying for jobs everywhere but no interviews. So for those of you who have been through this I was wondering if I could get some guidance. I don't think I can live with him much longer, every day it hurts more; so where do I go if my mother wont take me in and my friend is so into herself that she doesn't want to help out? I am wondering if anyone here has a step-by-step they can give me so I can let him move on and stop wasting his time and for me to be happy and independant.
