What would you do if boy friend say he is going to help girlfriend with financial problems

Boyfriend won't help girlfriend out on urgent things. Boyfriend don't have a steady job wants to do odd jobs like wash cars and usually make 50 or 90 dollars a week , lives with grandmother by the time the girlfriend needs help with something boyfriend don't have the money to help. Will get very defensive and upset if she ask him for help
