Is it honest or mean spirited to say he's a player?

Recently a friend of the families asked about setting up my brother with a nice girl. I responded that he sleeps with them, than finds some reason why she's not the one. Another words "Player".is what I said.
Well this statement got back to my brother, and I was told that he didn't feel that was really true. "I hurt his feelings." I didn't mean to hurt his feelings, but he's 35 and truely goes through girls let's say "regularly".
Should I feel bad about my answer, or should I stick with what what I feel is being honest?
