In a long distance relationship( 1 year) I have one more year of college and my boyfriend is looking for a job

We live three hours apart. When do you think we should move closer to each other ? We say we love each other and seem pretty comitted to each other but his father just died and he has just been mean lately but he says he want to move closer. What do you think I should do ?
