Am I being taken advantage of?

My friend got a 1200 dollar car, insurance covered. He got a new phone, gas cards, 400 dollar futon, ATVS, snowmobiles. He's got it made basically. (He's not even looking for a job.) He asked if I wanted to drive with him to school. I said sure. My parents brought up IN FRONT OF HIM.. that I should treat him.. To breakfast and stuff. I'm not being cheap but I don't feel that is very fair. I think he's glad he's not driving alone, and I never make him go out of the way. I go where he is going. My house is on his way home. So yeah, what do you think? Thanks.
