my hubby wants a nondisclosure agreement since he started a company. is this necessary?

he is extremely concerned that information will get out or be shared. His background is engineering, info tech and finance. i stated that i will keep our conversation confidential, yet insist to put it in paper. Are there other people who deal with the same issue that i have? do couples sign such agreement? help! it is driving me crazy!
