is it wrong of me to ask my baby daddy for help with car repairs?

all i have ever gotten from him in the past 2 years is a bag of clothin and 40 dollars. he offers to take the baby for a week or two and then just pops up unannounced when "he's " ready to play daddy. i object to this and then he goes houdini on me and i dont see or hear from him for weeks even months!
