Do you feel that my boyfriend intentionally misled me?

My boyfriend asked me to be his lover forever and said that he found his band of gold or platinum. Nine months late,r I asked him for an engagement ring and he said no because he does not believe in formal commitments. He said that he is my boyfriend for now. he told me that he could not live with me because I exercise too much ,t hat I read diet and exercise magazines, and that I do not eat junk food like him. He gave me many innuendos that he was going to propose, but never did. I broke up with him because I feel he told me lies and misled me. What do you think?
