Do men really care about romance anymore, or is that idea outdated?

I'm an old-school girl, I've also always been interested in romance…even more than sex, believe it or not. The idea of having someone to hold, talk to, sit by a fire with, kiss in the rain, etc., just really seems wonderful to me. So, my question is: is this idea outdated? It seems like most people don't have time or patience for a slow, romantic relationship. It's like it's a race to get together, have sex, and/or get married and have kids. Why can't love be savored and shared, enjoyed to its fullest, before moving on to the next step? I know this sounds cheesey, but I'm serious.
