My in laws are not announcing my engagement to my boyfriend.. please help!

My boyfriend and I wanted to get engaged, he wanted his parents to announce it to kith and kin and i agreed. My boyfriend went abroad for a business tour and my in laws fix a date for our engagement and when i agree to it they tell me they want to change it, its bugging me because when i invite people my in laws change the date and then i have to reschedule everything. i don't wanna tell my boyfriend because i don't wanna disturb him on his important business trip. please help!
