How would you react??

Ok so I have been best mates with this girl for a long time, she has a son the same age as mine 2 and a half yrs old. We spend nearly every day together, if we did not se each other we would call one another. So the other day she turns around and said to me I have been avoiding you because I dont want my son getting attacked by your son any more and I cant keep puting him in these situations. So I think it is better if we dont let them see each other any more, I reacted in anger alittle, and said you know my son is not a criminal but all kids go through this stage of hitting. So what would you guys do if someone said that about your child?
