Can one person be morally accountable for another person's poor decision??
The full question:
Should a person be held morally responsible/accountable for the actions of a 2nd party over whom they have exerted no influence, if they have somehow benefitted from said actions that could possibly have been detrimental to the 2nd party?
The specifics are someone bought something they probably shouldn't have spent money on. They then shared it with me. I had absolutely no influence on this person's choice to make the purchase. My wife now thinks that because I benefited I am now somehow morally accountable for this person's decision and should reimburse them.
