Should I repaint my rooms?

When I moved into my rental, some of the rooms were painted hideous colors -- vomit yellow, booger green, menstrual blood red. i painted the rooms gold, hyacinth blue, and cream. The landlord is now telling me to return the rooms to the original "neutral" colors. I don't see why I have to repaint the rooms their original colors, since they weren't neutral to begin with.
