Sister In Brothers Wedding...

Side 2
Side 1 says... My brother and I are 5 years apart. We have always been close as it is just us 2 kids. He is getting married to a girl from California (where he has lived for the past 8 years). She also only has one sibling, a younger brother. She has decided to have her brother give her away, sing and play guitar in her wedding.

When I asked what I would be doing in the wedding, she said, "well I haven't really thought about family yet." I said, "Well, you have since you just told us what your brother will be doing." Basically, I am not in the wedding party and I'm super hurt by this. If I was a guy, I'm sure I would be a groomsman, but because I'm his sister, and as she says she "barely knows me," I was not asked to be a bridesmaid. I feel that I have a right to be upset and as my ONLY brother/sibling I have dreamt of his wedding day since he was a kid. I was visibly upset and crying when she broke the news, and she seemed unphased altogether about my feelings.

At this point, due to her lack of understanding the importance of family, I really want no relationship with her. My boyfriend and family say it is HER wedding so she can do as she pleases and no one is taking my side! Am I really wrong on this one?

I guess I just believe that if you are close with your brothers/sisters and especially if you only have ONE of them, they should be a part of your special day?

Side 2 says... I just feel that its her brother's (and his future wife's) wedding and she doesn't have a say. I don't feel like she should be upset because its not her day, its the bride's, and the bride can do what she wants.
