Why Can't I Have The Boots?

Side 1 says... I'm going to be seeing a few high school friends I haven't seen in almost 10 years and I want to make sure I look good so I've been working out and lost almost 13 lbs since the beginning of the year. As a gift to myself for losing the weight I bought a pair of Victoria Beckham boots off goop to go with the outfit i want to wear to see my friends. They were expensive but I have never paid more than $100 for any shoes before.

When they got to the house my husbnad was the only one home and ended up getting the package and opened it. He immediately texted me "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??" I told him I've never done this before and I will probably have them for years so it'll be worth it. I might even resell them to a friend after a while.

He was still so mad. He was so mean about it he left (it was a saturday) and he didn't come home until the middle of the night and told me he needed a gift for himself for putting up with me so he went to the bar and spent $100. He called me worthless adn went to bed. The next day he didnt' talk to me and now I am annoyed.

Is this right? Are we not allowed to treat ourselves sometimes with things we like? What is the point of living or even working if we can't spend some of it?

Side 2 says... I don't have issues with spending money you work for. But you spend all the money you work for on yourself. I pay all the bills and then I barely have anything left.

These boots were $1,350. That's more than a mortgage payment. And you work part-time and pull in only about 10x that number.

Granted, you will occasionally take us to dinner, that's the only us I see out of your money. The rest goes to impress all your friends. And if these people you want to impress now were so important you would have seen them before 10 years passed.

And you want to have kids.

You going to make me pay for all a baby's expenses too or are you going to buy matching baby boots?

Either way I drank because I can't believe you've become so entitled. You were never like this when you worked full time while we were dating. I think I have every right to be annoyed.
