How can i make my long distant relationship work and keep him interested?

My relationship is a tough one. We live a bit over 2 hours apart and only i have a drivers licence. Charly was going to come to my place but arrangments at his home got messed around and he couldnt end up coming over. We now havnt seen each other for about 2months and because of or busy schdual ow next free time was a month away. We hav kind of called it off untill he can get his licence and stuff but i still fear it may not work. We really like each other but it is really difficult.
