Does he mean it or not?

I had a heated argument with my boyfriend over a girl he was secretly talking to. I don't know if he ever did anything with her but he has been caught talking to her all the time.

After our fight he said he will not talk to her anymore at the risk of losing me. Does he mean it and should I trust him?
