Is it wrong for me to ask him to cut back on eating out and buying things that aren't necessary right now?

I live on a ranch with 2 dogs, 3 cats and 4 horses. Things are a little tight right now and I have asked my fiance to cut back on eating out and buying things that aren't necessary to help ends meet. He buys lunches almost every day, will drive to the gas station to buy a cup of coffee when I have some made at home, and goes out for expensive dinners often. His response is if I have to buy hay for the horses, he gets to eat out all he wants - and then booked a vacation for himself to Laughlin, NV.
