Do I have the right to be jealous/angry if my live-in boyfriend continues to talk with his ex-girlfriend.

I have been with my boyfriend for four years and he continues to talk to her, via e-mail 0r cell phone. She seems to not want any other female in his life at this time. My boyfriend and this woman had been apart for about one year before we got together. Can you please help?
