My Boyfriend's Neighbor Slipped Him a Hook Up Note
My boyfriend lives in an apartment building with lots of neighbors. Anyways, two days ago he was slipped a note by one of his neighbors basically saying, "Hey, I know this is weird but... I noticed you in the building a lot. I know you have a girlfriend, but... if you want to go out for drinks later, let me know." She then left her phone number and e-mail address. The e-mail address has her full name on it. Not very bright in my estimation, but I'll get into that later.
So, of course, he was honest and told me about it. I thanked him for his honesty, and out of curiousity I checked for the woman's name on Facebook. Her profile came up, as well as her contact info. It all matches. We think she lives next door, as her name is an African American one and my boyfriend has no other African American neighbors in his building that he knows of besides the ones next door. Not only that, I recognize her from her FB pictures. Her profile on Facebook is really obsessing about love and finding true love. My boyfriend and I are in our 20's, and this woman is mid to late 30's. My indignant curiousity has now turned to pity. Worse yet, we are sure she has a teenaged daughter because the girl comes and goes with her mother. I am not sure what to do. My boyfriend is not going to contact her, but I was on the road to doing so by sending her a message saying, "My boyfriend and I are flattered you noticed him, but please take the moral high road next time and not send notes to people asking for intimacy when you know they are in relationships." I would send the message on Facebook, so the daughter wouldn't see what her mom was doing. The other option, of course, is to not say anything at all and pretend it never happened. This woman posts love songs on her newsfeed about people getting out of serious relationships, and having one night stands turning into true love, so I am pretty sure she is hoping for the same situation with my boyfriend. Do you think acting like nothing ever happened is the best route, or should I confront her about it? I actually feel sympathy for her, which surprises me.
