should my ex move out when my new bf moved in

i had a bf for 9 years ,i got back with an old flame ,the old flame moved in and my ex of 9 years stayed living in my home ,he had his own room and paid his own way,he lived with us for 3 years ,should i have had him move out when my new bf moved in,let me say this also my bf has an ex wife he still suports after 8 years.
