Do people really take the advice they're given by anonymous web users seriously? Don't people talk anymore?

I have just found this website and I'm amazed that people use it in a serious manner to help solve problems. I assume some of the scenarios are made up for 'entertainment' purposes.
If you have been helped by advice you got from comments or used the experts, I'd love to know. I'm thinking about writing an article on this phenomenon.
Just looking for some feedback.
