Am I wrong to not trust her?

Okay, so here is the story.

I was in an abusive relationship in my early 20's. I had this friend, that called herself my best friend. Well, the guy I was seeing, would often hit me in front of her, pinch me, even went as far as to bite me once, and she just sat there doing nothing. He was much bigger than me, and so was she. I didn't expect her to help me, however, I didn't expect to catch her sleeping with him either. Which I did about 3 months into the relationship.

I was stupid to stay with him, but I was in denial about why he did it. I ended the relationship after I caught them in bed. She turns around and tells all of our other friends that she did what she could to protect me from him. I told them all the truth, about the abuse, and her lying, and her sleeping with him. Her and I didn't talk much after that. Eventually, we just stopped talking altogether.

So, years later, she comes back into my life now, saying she is sorry she did it, that she didn't mean to hurt me by sleeping with him, that she thought I would be okay with it, because he told her we had an open relationship. She said if it wasn't for her doing what she did, I might still be with him, so I should be great full that she did it.

She wants us to be friends again, but I don't know. I honestly don't trust her anymore, and don't know if I ever can. She says I'm over reacting, and that it was years ago, and she would never do it again. She really doesn't seem like she has changed that much.

Though I'm not worried about the guy I'm with now cheating on me, I just don't know if I can trust her as a friend anymore or not.

Am I over reacting? Should I put the past behind me, and rekindle our friendship?
