How Long Should I Wait For A Proposal?

Side 2
Side 1 says... I have been dating my boyfriend for almost 5 years. I have been patient and really not expected a proposal. However in the last few months, he has started talking about our future together (babies, baby names, honeymoon destinations, wedding preferences, where we should live/how, etc.) This has started to make me excited and almost expect a proposal in the near future. His mother even called me to talk about their church and how weddings are there. A few days ago...he mentioned that he wouldn't be ready to ask me to marry him until we have been dating for over 7 years. Needless to say, I was more than a little surprised and a little hurt too. I am ready to commit to him and spend my life with him, but I am starting to wonder if that is really how he feels about me too. He reassures me daily that he loves me and can't live without me. My internal clock is ticking louder and louder each day. Am I expecting too much from my boyfriend or is my want of a proposal appropriate?

Side 2 says... I love my baby so much, but I want to accomplish a few things before I commit to her for the rest of my life. These things will take two years approximately. I am not worried about the "clock" ticking. I don't even know what she means by that. I want a family with her and I know it will all work out someday. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect her to wait another two years...cuz we are already halfway there! She will be my wifey someday soon. Is it ok for me to keep her waiting (it's not that long!) or do I need to make some type of commitment to her before a proposal?
