I've lost any desire to have sex my husband after repeated signs of his lack of respect towards others. Help?

We've been married 4+ yrs. with many conflicts due to my husband's verbal abuse.
When he gets agressive, due to being inconvenienced or stressed, then he lashes out at the nearest source. I have taken a stand that I'm not going to take it. The last time it happened, we were on a road trip together and I refused to talk to him after he lashed out at me three times, and he never wants to talk about it. I was deeply disturbed by his behavior, and have come to realize that it's because he's a "repeat offender". Anyway, I'm convinced this is part of who he is and that it will always come out under certain circumstances. Now, I've lost respect for him!
