How do you deal with a husband who accepts no responsibility and accountability for their actions?

I have been married for eight years and my husband who has a long record of wrong doings has never accepted full reponsibility for his actions. He is always deflecting and when a discussion arises, I'm always the one to blame. In addition, he is stuck in the past and can't move on. Whenever we talk about an issue (I usually try to avoid these types of conversations), all of sudden I am the one to blame. Help, I am at wit's end with a major avoider.
