Changing names is such a big deal?

My fiancee and I have been fighting more than usual lately. Our wedding is in a couple months and we just started the legal procedures. But I do not want to add his surname for several reasons, one being that is just too much bureaucracy to change all documents and honestly I find it unfair that I'd have to change my name and he doesn't. He says I do this because I think it will be easier to separate. Yet, I do not what to change my name, I like it the way it is, and do not see why to make such a big deal out of it. To be honest, he fought but then said he could not care less. I do not know what hurts me the most: that he won't care or that he's already thinking about the divorce. I guess both...
